The Ups & Downs of Spirit Mountain
- 05 Dec
Montana started his season off driving very cautious after last year (not getting into the finals) but after eyeing up some of the competition, he knew he had to start running hard. He went 2nd in round 1 and 1st in roundd 2 which gave him a front row starting spot and when the light went green Montana rocketed out to a great holeshot lead. He lost the lead to the 201 of Kern the # 1 qualifier. Montana ran 2nd most of the race until he ran into lap traffic where he got out of time with the rhythm section, came off the track and wound up 10th overall but realized he can run with the best in the class.
Day 2 he started slow after his off on Friday but managed a 3rd and 2nd place in the heat for another front row start which is huge with 78 riders competing and in the final Montana got taken out at the top corner and found himself in last place on lap 1 but after driving thru the field found himself in 4th position at the checkered flag. Montana leaves Duluth in 5th place in points and knows he can improve on his mistakes from week 1.
